September 14, 2020 - Shahal Mohamed

The engagement ring is the most special, emotional celebratory piece of jewellery that everyone loves. It is a symbol of everlasting love. A diamond ring delivers joy and spreads love generation after generation. An engagement ring is something that is purchased expensive for the loved ones which are to be worn by nearly every day and an engagement ring is considered the focal point for all other jewellery.

An engagement ring shopping requires the importance of being educated about the types of engagement rings, colours and ring cuts. There are five C’s you must know to truly assess a diamond's greatness that is Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat. This C’s are closely examined when distinguishing the quality of a diamond ring.

THE CUT

As it was mentioned above CUT is the first C because the better and perfect cut of a diamond more light is reflected and will look more brilliant In which cuts are unlimited. The cut of a diamond is graded as excellent, very good, good, fair or poor. The cut of a diamond is mostly done by hands as it is a mix of art and clearly science.

THE COLOUR

Diamonds are most commonly found as white or colourless. The diamonds naturally occur in many colours of the rainbow, but they still show slight hints of yellow and brown. They are graded from D to Z in which D is completely colourless and Z has yellow or brown. D grade is the rarer and valuable one.

THE CLARITY

The clarity is measured according to the presence of inclusions within the diamond the shows in its appearance. These inclusions give diamonds a personality. A diamond is considered more rare and valuable where the clarity is greater.

Clarity chart usually starts with FL and IF in which the IF and FL grade tells diamond is flawless and has no visible inclusions. VVS1 AND VVS2 grades are the next which means Very Very Slightly Included and then there are VS1 AND VS2 which mean Very Slightly Included which is followed by SI1 and SI2 which means Slightly included. The last grading category is I1, I2 and I3 which are usually visible to the naked eye

THE CARAT

Carats are the measurement for a diamond’s weight. The diamonds of the same carat may appear very different sizes because of their cuts. The carat weight is one of the things that affect the value of diamonds and heavier diamonds are rare.

THE CERTIFICATION.

Certification is the final total grading report which is done in an independent laboratory which confirms all the characteristics of the diamond, better said as the combination of the rest 4C’s and helps in buying the diamond with its right value.

Shopping an engagement ring is a beautiful personal experience. Doesn’t matter which jewellery, you’ll definitely find what you are looking for. Wishing a Happy (almost) engagement to you!.
